India Center

The India Center combines academics with experiences of local culture to present a programme that is unique in every way. Students interact on a daily basis with Faculty and Staff from the region itself, and so can experience first hand the wonders and challenges of life and education in South Asia. Human connections forged here are manifestations of human connectedness all over the world - we are all connected, whoever we are, wherever we are.

The center has well designated areas for classroom work, advising as well as a study room for the students.

Internet/E-mail facilities:
The center has a high speed internet connection that can be accessed by the students during office hours (9:00a.m. to 6:00p.m.). Students can use the facilities of 6 student computers, or plug in to any of the 12 dedicated lap top line connections.

We also have 2 wireless hubs in the center which means that if your laptop is wireless enabled (with LAN Card), you can log on to the internet in any part of the center without a plug in.

This new facility can accommodate over 30 computers. Computer Peripherals are easily available in Bangalore. Please consult the front office or the Admin Personnel for details.

The Center Library has a modest collection of books and periodicals that provide a fairly good introduction to the South Asian region, religion, philosophy, history, development issues, literature, etc. Meanwhile, we are in touch with many libraries (both general and specialized) in the city, such as those at the Indian Social Institute, Indian Institute of World Culture, the Gandhi Bhavan, the Center for Education and Documentation, the Center for Environment Education, The Mythic Society, the Government Library in Cubbon Park, the United Theological College and others.

The Center has tie-ups with hospitals in the city with 'state of the art' medical facilities, for the general medical requirements of the students.

The Center does not have a Xerox machine but copies can be made just a few blocks away at Re.1.00 a copy. The Center does not have fax facilities.

The IC has arrangements to provide good, healthy and hygienic food to students during the semester. We serve breakfast, lunch, tea and snacks during working days at a modest daily charge. A coffee station has been set up for use by students.

Please note that food at the center is optional. You can make your own arrangements if you do not want to make use of this service.

All food served at the India Center, with the exception of a few dishes, will be Indian food. We do leave out the chilli powder in the first few weeks.
If you are not able to tolerate hot, spicy food then non-spicy food can be prepared on personal request.
